Centro Primo Levi supports Italian Jewish Studies through the creation of the Digital Library and through networking, public awareness campaigns, grant-making, publishing, and programming.

Homeland of the Hebrew book, with its over twenty-two centuries of uninterrupted Jewish life, Italy represents the historical, cultural, and geographical interface between Mediterranean and Northern European countries, providing a unique context for the reading of contemporary Judaism and its diverse manifestations.

In the past decade a growing number of universitites and research centers in Italy, the US, and Israel have begun offering courses on various aspects of the history, religious traditions, cultural life, and history of ideas of the Jews of Italy.

As the demand grows, libraries, archives, and museums in Italy strive to make their collections accessible to scholars and the public at large.

Centro Primo Levi offers a unified umbrella to coordinate efforts, optimize resources, and ensure that the inestimable wealth of historical documents, artifacts, multimedia material, and artistic production of Italian Jewry can be accessed and contextualized from one organized portal.
