16th World Congress of Jewish Studies. Jerusalem, July 28th – August 1st 2013
Call for Papers
We are pleased to announce that the 16th World Congress of Jewish Studies will take place at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem from July 28th through August 1st 2013. We hope that most scholars from the various fields of Jewish studies will take part in it. We invite you to submit proposals for papers, sessions and special events for the upcoming congress. We especially encourage proposals for the organization of complete sessions.

The Congress consists of six divisions:
A. The Bible and Its World
B. History of the Jewish People
C. Rabbinic Literature and Jewish Law and Jewish Thought
D. Languages, Literature, and the Arts
E. Contemporary Jewish Society
F. Research projects and technology
The Academic Committees of these divisions are responsible for approving proposals, as well as for the structure of the sessions.
Sessions. Scholars who wish to propose a complete session (containing either 4 lectures or 3 lectures and one response) are asked to submit the session’s topic; names of lecturers and abstracts of the proposed lectures. One may also suggest a chair for the session.
Papers. Scholars who wish to deliver a lecture in one of the Congress divisions are asked to submit a topic accompanied by an abstract of 150–200 words. The duration of each lecture will be twenty (20) minutes with an additional ten (10) minutes at the end for Q&A and discussion.
Sponsorships. Institutes and research centers are welcomed to initiate and offer sponsorships for complete sessions that deal with topics relevant to their research fields.
Special Events. We will be happy to receive suggestions for special cultural events for congress participants. a short explanation and description of the event can be submitted email.

Participation in the Congress requires paying WUJS membership dues for 2013, as well as Congress participation fees.
Submissions schedule:
A. Complete sessions and Individual presentations. Proposals are to be submitted by
July 15th, 2012.
B. Special events. Proposals are to be submitted by July 1st, 2012.
